Snap Your Stairs, See Them Finished: The FAF Magic Stair Designer

Snap a photo of your stairs. Tap one button. See them finished. That’s the newest trick in the FAF Magic Stair Designer, the most advanced stair designer this side of the Atlantic. (Atlanta is on this side too. Coincidence? We measured. Twice.)

Before and after: an unfinished staircase and the same staircase with red oak treads, white risers, an oak handrail and black iron balusters, made by the FAF Magic Stair Designer
Left: the photo. Right: what the designer made from it. Tap to watch the video.

How it works, in six steps

  1. Upload a photo. Open the designer on your phone and tap “Upload a photo of my stairs.” In a few seconds it reads the stair type, the open side, the number of steps and the width, and fills everything in for you.
  2. Treads and risers. Red or White Oak, bullnose or square edge. Covering old steps? RetroTreads go right over them, with 3/8″ white primed risers.
  3. Railing. Pick the handrail and the newel posts. The 3D zooms in so you see the real shape.
  4. Balusters. Plain, twist, basket, knuckle and more, in satin black, with the shoes to match.
  5. Balcony. Got one at the top? The designer usually spots it in your photo.
  6. Your parts list. Every part with our model numbers, down to the last bracket.

Then tap “See the magic”

The designer draws your own staircase finished with the exact parts you picked. Flip between Before and After, and save the picture to show your client before the first tread is cut.
