Every board is a real oak wear layer over a stack of plies, each one turned 90° to the next. That cross-ply stack is what keeps a board flat when the humidity can't make up its mind. Here's what's inside each one.

How many times can it be resanded?
We get asked this a lot, and the answer is in the wear layer. More oak on top means more trips with the sander down the road.
Maybe a 4th if the work is a light buff and recoat.

How the wear layer comes off the log decides how the grain looks once the finish goes down.
Rotary cut
The log is softened, then spun against a long blade so the wear layer peels off in one continuous sheet. Wide, wavy grain and the most floor out of every log, which keeps the price down.
Sliced cut
The log is sawn into lumber, softened, then shaved into slices with a knife. No sawdust, and the grain reads like a solid board instead of a peeled sheet.
Sawn cut
Dry lumber is cut with a saw, the same way solid flooring is. Nothing is soaked or steamed, so it sands and takes stain just like solid. Up top, it is solid.

Every board here ships raw, so the finish is yours to decide. Stain it any color you like, then topcoat it in any sheen from extra matte to gloss.
